Hoppers Crossing

Hoppers Crossing Its Local Government Area is the City of Wyndham. According to estimated Population figures from 2006 the population of Hoppers Crossing was 39,051. It is estimated that in 2011 the population would be 38,204 and will decrease by 0.3 percent or 2,379 persons by 2031 , Filled with restaurants and cafes this would have to be the centre point of activity in the region. Venture out and enjoy the nightlife as streets blossom with a lively atmosphere. Classy bars and clubs offer a convenient place to enjoy an evening out with friends. Easy access to public transport provides the best of both worlds. Werribee

The name Werribee is an aboriginal name meaning backbone or spine. It is thought that this name was given as the shape of the Werribee River valley in the landscape looks like a backbone. The Werribee River seems to have provided a boundary between the territories of the Woiwurong aborigines to the north east and the Wothowurong to the south west.Farmland around Werribee was subdivided to form new suburbs, mostly north of the railway line. The oldest of these areas is between Market and Tarneit Roads. Houses are mostly privately built and may be timber or brick.Werribee today remains a more self-contained city compared with outer suburbs of Melbourne. With a full range of good quality schools, community facilities and shops (including the ever-expanding werribee plaza shopping centre) its residents seldom need to travel more than 3 or 4 kilometres except possibly for work. The old Werribee town centre located in Watton Street continues to thrive and has recently been nominated by the Victorian State Government as a major activity centre under the Melbourne 2030 urban plan.

Tarneit

Tarneit is mostly used as agricultural grazing land, but this is changing due to urban sprawl coming from nearby suburbs, such as Hoppers Crossing and Werribee, happening mostly in the southern region of Tarneit.Tarneit's population in 2006 was 7,613, it is estimated to be 19,435 in 2011 and 63,512 in 2031 a rapid increase of 8.9 percent or 55,899 persons. Tarneit already has a secondary school within its boundaries, known as Thomas Carr. A lot of residential growth is occurring in the Thomas Carr district, with other schools and shopping centres planned for construction. Wyndham Village Shopping centre, in the suburb's south, was completed in 2005 to serve the exploding population in the immediate area, especially in the residential developments of Tarneit Gardens, The Rise, Rose Grange and Seasons. Existing Bus Routes in the area have recently been altered and now better serve the suburb.

The New tarneit rail station will be built along Leakes Rd and provide a much faster rail route then current Werribee services which must pass though Altona and Footscray. This will ensure Tarneit becomes a prime regional area for those who comute to the city on a regular basis.Work will start in 2010 on the A new school in Tarneit. Tarneit College as it will be known will provide from grades 10-12 in stage one with construction due to be complete by 2012. The new school will be built on the allocated land in Tarneit Gardens.

Truganina

Truganina is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, 21 km west from Melbourne's CBD. Its Local Government Area is the City of Wyndham and Shire of Melton. It is believed that the suburb Truganina was named after Truganini, the Tasmanian Aboriginal Elder who spent a short time in the area.

Truganina had a population of 2,958 in 2006 and is expected to have a population of 8,353 in 2011 and a population of 39,951 in 2031. This is a progressive increase of 9.9 percent or 28,633 persons from 2006.

Truganina and surrounds are growing rapidly because of their great sub-urban location. They are located in the urban growth corridor. They lie in a good location, being close to the major manufacturing areas in Laverton and the proposed business park on part of Williams RAAF base.

Truganina used to be more of a prospect for urban sprawl though, but reduced catchment in Melbourne makes it unlikely that plans will be made for land to the north of Leakes Road. Truganina will be more connected with the announcement of the Regional Rail Link.

Point Cook

In 1996, Point Cook was basically a rural community, with the RAAF Williams Base. Point Cook’s population in 1996 was approximately 580, of whom 552 lived on the RAAF base. By 2001, Point Cook’s population had increased to 1737, and by August 2006 the population of Point Cook was 14,162 as per the 2006 Australian Census. Today Point Cook is one of the major growth regions in Melbourne's western suburbs.

It is predicted that the population of Point Cook will increase to 29,263 by 2011 & 41,474 by 2016.[When taking into account the Melbourne 2030 Plan's current Urban growth boundary, it is believed that Point Cook’s population will peak at approximately 60,000 by the late 2020s.

The new Ponit Cook Town Centre has been constructed on the corner of Dunnings Road and Boardwalk Boulevard, with the development including a main street retail and commercial town centre, up to 135 specialty shops, as well as Coles, Aldi , Target, Harris Scarfe, Dick Smith Electronics, Growers Fresh, Pharmacy Select and Reject-Shop outlets. There is also a food court which seats over 400 people. Stage 1 had a grand opening on August 21, 2008 with Stage 2 opening at the end of November 2009. Opening in 2010 will be Victoria's largest Dan Murphys store.

Wyndham Vale

Wyndham Vale is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, 36 km south-west from Melbourne's CBD. Its Local Government Area is the City of Wyndham. At the 2006 Census Wyndham Vale had a population of 10,355.

There are several primary schools in Wyndham Vale, however there are no secondary schools in the area. Although in the past there have been plans to establish a secondary school in the area, it was abandoned during the Education cuts with the introduction of the Kennett Government,  and the land sold to a developer. This action became very common in suburbs of Melbourne during the early 1990s. The state government announced in the 2007 state budget that a new P-12 school would be built in Wyndham Vale in the Manor Lakes Estate, developed by the Dennis Family Corporation. In addition a new Catholic School will be built catering up to P9 on the estate. Manor Lakes is approx 750 hectares in size and will eventually house more than 25 000 residents, making it the second largest residential development in Victoria.
